Sports massage therapy
Not just for sports people, the techniques can be used for anyone in need of a deep tissue remedial treatment following injury or with muscle spasm and pain. Sports massage can be used to aid recovery from injury, pre event, post event, or as an adjunct to your training programme as well as for health maintenance. The treatment helps to minimise tension in the muscular tissues and other soft tissue structures such as ligaments, tendons and fascia. This can potentially reduce strain on the joints which over time may lead to repetitive strain injury and associated symptoms. Sports massage treatments can have a profound effect on pain (both acute and chronic) and other mechanical problems. As well as reducing pain and helping to restore function to the soft tissues massage can help you to achieve better mobility, flexibility and therefore improve sports performance as well as assisting in reduction of injury through soft tissue fatigue. Treatment involves systematic manipulation of the soft tissues to restore function, reduce risk of injury and RSI, rehabilitate post injury, reduce pain and assist general well being. Available pre event, post event and as regular maintenance sessions to support training. Techniques used are deep tissue massage, myofascial release (MFR), STR, MET, NMT, stretching and mobilisation techniques with postural assessment and remedial exercise. Benefits will depend on the individual situation and can be quite marked following the first treatment.
